Describe SSW in 160 characters or less
You know what would really get more users for the site is a good meta-description, like for Google and suchlike. How would you describe Secret Society Wars in 160 characters?

    "Basically Calvinball in Space."

Like Risk, but with 1089 tiny countries. And grown up shit.

I love it, but it's almost too concise. If SSW randomly shows up as a search result you really wanna draw someone in, and super-short descriptions get overlooked.

Five societies vie for control of the universe. Initiation into the highest levels requires violence, sexual depravity, and creative cooking skills.

I really like this one. To tinker (because that's what I do) ...

Five secret societies vie for control of a sex-and-booze-fueled universe in this humorous, paleo-sci-fi MMORPG that morphs into an online game of team "Risk" with laser blasters and rocket boots.

closer to TradeWars 2000, but then that reference is probably lost on a lot of people who missed the whole BBS thing.

Yeah. It's an over-generalization, for sure. But I figured if you're trying to reach as big an audience as possible while giving a general idea of what to expect, it worked.

I can definitely see the trade wars inspiration. The game play feels more like risk to me, but I don't remember trade wars including drones.

They were called "fighters", if I recall. also spaceships and other mechanical differences, but there are some core mechanical similarities that are directly inspired by TW2002. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the TW2002 dev team were fans of Risk, though. I sure am. (:

This is now the home page's "description" tag. UC5 has made some suggestions about increasing the site's google rank/SEO muscle. There'll very likely be some changes soonish to the "not-logged-in" home page (currently pretty textually sparse) to make more of the "public" stuff like Homeworlds, Blogs, parts of the Forums and the Help Center more visible and attractive to search engines.

Hopefully this will help draw in new players. (:

I was wondering how long it was going to take before anal bleaching came up.
