IOTM Idea I think a melee weapon that increases starbux drops would be a fun one. And the melee weapon doesn't need to be all super bad ass, it doesn't need to be a better weapon than katanas or battle axen.
I'm thinking necklace, shades or a hat, but definitely not a melee weapon, cause if it's an IOTM it's reset-safe and available at the start of a cycle, and I think having a good melee weapon at the start of a cycle is too big of an advantage...
heck, I usually get away with them 1000 apples and chopsticks till the fourth day or so...
Heh, I usually use brass knuckles and fists at the beginnings of cycles and dimits so I can autosell the apples for bux, 10k comes in pretty handy.
And market madness boots are a huge advantage compared to a melee weapon, but those exist.
I don't think they need to be a good melee weapon, low range and power around leather flogs or something would be cool.
Change the starting price of this item at the 1337 Hut? Of course I was willing to pay 20peen for a Custom Combat Item Form (similar to the Custom Blaster Form) that was reset safe and got nixed so.....
Why is that though? What great advantage does a melee weapon have over the other equipment slots with hut items? There are a plethora of alternatives for weapons just like for all the other slots.
mainly the zero cost of ownership of a melee weapon. with the custom blasters you still have to get to a reasonably high degree and expend fairly serious resources before you can get sufficient ammo for them during at least your first run. That relegates them to mainly PvP duty for most players.
If you make some more things in the other slots, can we get some of them combined together like powerup/anger helmet or peril/beer goggles? I have 2 or 3 or even 4 different hut items that go in the same slot already for a few of them, and most of them don't see any use because one's effects trump the other.
I can sort of see the point, but on the other hand it seems like brass knuckles are stronger than a lot of the melee weapons anyway!
Has anyone bothered to see how powerful your bare hands are? Though I don't see any reason why adding 1/2 inch of brass to your knuckles adds 10IP to your range unless you are throwing it at your opponent. And besides since it's a starting weapon anyway, why not make the IOTM a "golden-brass knuckle" same damage and range but higher money drops. It'll give a more "mob-thug" feel to the weapon as well. (grins)
Since I broached the subject (and digressing off the main subject at the same time), a lot of the hand to hand weapons are skimpy and severely neutered compared to their real life examples. I "do" understand the need to keep the distance to 10 or so on most of them, but as an example have you ever seen the amount of damage a simple flat head screw driver can do to a person? I trained myself on knife throwing by using them, they are easily one of "the" most under-rated hand to hand weapons in existence.
Solid heavy steel shafts, hardened poly-fiber resin handles that can take a direct hit from a sledge hammer or a car take your pick. 80% of them have a carbide, tungsten, or similar ungodly strong head. ...Hell, the only difference between some of the larger screwdrivers and a Sai is the lack of a cross guard. 15 seconds on a grinder and they're sharper than one too, not that it needs sharpening to have one thrown completely through a person, excluding the handle of course. It can be used as a bone breaking blunt trauma pounding weapon (jaw bones are particularly vunlerable to a screwdriver's shaft), and the puncture wounds caused by stabbing or throwing are jagged, deep, and are extremely difficult to clean much less suture. All in all it's a nasty weapon. And yes I know all of this from actual experience... (now that I've once again labeled myself as a psychotic, I'll shut up.)

Bare fists are actually pretty good if you train them. They are actually 10IP, and for me they do more damage than knuckles do. I think their damage might depend on your stats, but I don't know.

I said that to see if anyone was actually paying attention. (whoops thought they had a 20IP range) Yeah putting brass on your fingers makes you weaker.
It is a trade-off in the context of a dimit. Brass knuckles train up much faster than fists, but fists are more powerful once trained. Realistically, I usually have something else other that knuckles or fists by the time I finish eroticon, so I usually pick the knuckles to save myself on healing costs at the beginning.
So why not have a melee weapon that is less powerful than fists but has a higher complexity so trains up slower, but has a percentage chance of giving a little bit of a percentage upgrade on the amount of bucks you might get from a fight. in other words it's fairly usless as a weapon but maybe you can accrue wealth a itsy bitsy tiny winey bit faster if you get lucky.
